1. Define the merchandise and store footprint

Before any wire is selected, the display has to be matched to the product and the store. Buyers should provide:

2. Select wire diameter, spacing, and structure

Wire diameter depends on span, load, shape, weld positions, and required stiffness; spacing must retain the merchandise while keeping it visible and easy to access. For a heavy-duty welded mesh display, Formost typically uses 6.2 mm wire for the outer frame and 4.5 mm wire on a 25 mm internal pitch, and wire gauge stays at or below 7 mm except for base-support members. New structures are confirmed with a prototype and a load check rather than a universal wire specification — for example, a representative acceptance test loads each hook to 5 kg, held static for 3 days, with no wire deformation as the pass condition.

Rotating wire displays add one more failure mode. In one rotating base, manual welding burned through the tube wall and left an internal protrusion, which made the rack turn unevenly; correcting the base weld so the inner surface stayed clean restored smooth rotation. It is a reminder that rotation smoothness is a welding-quality problem, not only a bearing choice.

3. Choose the display and accessory system

A wire display is rarely just wire. Neither is always better. Fully welded structures reduce store assembly and can improve rigidity but usually take more shipping volume; knock-down structures cut carton and container volume but require engineered connections, hardware control, and store-level assembly. Semi-KD designs keep critical welded subassemblies while removing high-volume frames, shelves, or bases for shipping. 5. Select surface finish and branding

Finish is chosen by use case: powder coating for durable color programs and general retail use, chrome plating for a bright premium look, and zinc plating for functional corrosion resistance on selected parts. Environment matters — for refrigerated or chilled-aisle displays, Formost specifies coating thickness above 200 µm (two or more powder-coat passes) on galvanized wire, because thin single-coat finishes corrode in cold, damp conditions. First-article and in-process inspection

Every component receives a first-article check against the drawing — wall thickness, dimensions, and angle — with welds additionally checked for spatter and cold or false welds. Production then runs to the process sheet’s self-check and patrol items: typically five pieces every 120 minutes for general parts and five pieces every 60 minutes for critical dimensions. IPQC can stop the line on any deviation; after adjustment and a passing re-check, production resumes.

Welds, deformation, and appearance

Deformation is verified with check fixtures, weld strength is challenged by a vibration check before surface treatment, and appearance is inspected visually. Because upstream forming relies on mistake-proof molds and CNC tooling, once the first part is correct the downstream defect rate is low, so the core inspection is concentrated after powder coating.

Finishing, assembly, and finished goods

After coating, Formost inspects assembly — where multiple components stack tolerance and the coating adds thickness — and appearance, including weld spatter, coating sags or runs, and orange peel. The first set of every product is assembled before packing, and load testing (loaded to the rated maximum and held static for three days) is run for special products where load is critical. Once a sample is approved, the mass-production standard is locked to a sealed sample and the approved drawing. Non-conforming parts are segregated and corrected under the documented quality procedures, so the approved standard — not a shifting judgment — governs every shipment.
